I received an email from Onward Together, a political organization co-founded by Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean. In the body of the message was this interesting notion:

“I found myself thinking about the ways in which activism and public service can make life richer. After all, there’s no better way to meet people who are passionate about your passions than by fighting, side by side, for what’s right.”

No better way indeed.  Perhaps war perspectives would be well advised to establish their differences of principle plainly before the fight. That declaration of war would indicate if sides are merely of differing opinion around a potent issue. If so, they might work together on the underlying principled issue itself instead so there would be more people left after they meet each other passionately – previous to a fight.
